Biophilic Design on a whole new level
We created 43 living moss air filters for New York City’s first and only life sciences hub housing 50 companies including Pfizer, Eli Lilly, and Bristol Myers-Squibb. The building already had preserved moss pieces, but the client was not happy with preserved moss and chose Moss Pure’s living moss air filters in the new construction wing of the building. Moss Pure collaborated with Perkins & Will and Structure Tone and developed the 43 living moss air filters in our Rhode Island workshop. We then went onsite in NYC and installed all 43 pieces into a larger, beautiful installation spanning the entrance to the production and lab areas, and an entrance to the break room area.
Moss Pure’s Life Sciences NYC project contains 43-pieces which are constructed of a multi-layered living environment, biological air filter, and a combination of different species of living mosses spanning from the Western US and the Eastern US – celebrating American biodiversity. The 43-living moss air filter installation in total is capturing:
