Moss Wall Art for New Dean’s Office

We created 7 pieces for the new Dean of Pharmacy’s Office at the University of Rhode Island. The pieces included two tabletop trays for the conference table, three living moss walls for the reception area and two large focal living moss walls for the main office area. The two bigger moss walls contain different colored species of living moss, including lighter green moss species (Western United States) and darker green moss species (Eastern United States).

Most people don’t realize that the moss wall art they see out and about is actually not living moss and it’s fake. Preserved moss is treated with toxic chemicals, and most importantly doesn’t last without needing constant replacement. What this means is corporate and commercial offices with preserved moss walls will not only invest in installing the wall once, but will have to invest more time and money to replace the preserved moss over and over again.
